Itinerary for Leh – Nubra Valley – Leh
Day 1: Arrival at Leh.
After your arrival at Leh, one of our representatives from Corners of Earth shall meet you and assist you in carrying out your hotel check-in formalities. Leh is located at an elevation of 11,562 feet and is a part of the North Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. At earlier times, this small hill station served as the capital of the Ladakh kingdom. Overnight stay at Leh.
Day 2: Leh sightseeing.
After breakfast, a representative from Corners of Earth shall guide you on a sightseeing tour in and around Leh. As part of the tour, you will be taken to Thiksey Monastery, located on top of a hill in Thiksey village, which is close to a 19 km drive from Leh. Next, we will head towards the Shey village where you will get to see the Shey Monastery and Shey Palace built in 1655 by the then king of Ladakh, Deldan Namgyal. The palace is mostly in ruins now. The Shey Monastery houses a 39 feet tall copper built gold plated statue of Shakyamuni Buddha that covers three floors of the monastery. We will also take you to the Hemis Monastery which was built by king Senge Nampar Gyalva in the year 1672. Every year in the month of July, a colourful festival is organized over here by the locals of the Hemis village. We will also arrange a trip to a traditional Ladakhi house made of mud bricks. This would enhance your knowledge on the Ladakhi culture as you will get the chance to interact with the locals of the region. Over here, you may try a local beer known as Chang. You may also try the salt tea which is a specialty of this part of India. After the sightseeing trip, we shall drive back to Leh and drop you in your hotel. Overnight stay at Leh.
Day 3: Leh to Nubra Valley.
After breakfast and hotel check-out at Leh, we shall head towards Nubra valley, situated in the North of Leh. On our way, we shall drive past Khardungla Pass, which is home to the highest motorable roads in the world. By afternoon, we shall reach Nubra and on arrival, our representative shall assist you in fulfilling the hotel check-in formalities. After lunch, we will conduct a sightseeing trip in and around the Nubra valley. We will take you to the Deskit village which is home to a 600-year-old Deskit Monastery. From the monastery campus, spectacular views of the Nubra valley can be witnessed. We shall also take you to the Hundar village. Over here, there is a small monastery and remains of an old fort. You can also enjoy a blissful walk or a camel safari over the sand dunes of the Nubra Valley. Overnight stay at Nubra.
Day 4: Nubra Valley to Leh.
In the morning after breakfast, we will visit Samstanling Monastery located in close proximity to the Sumur village. The monastery is ornamented with beautiful murals and paintings of Buddha that reflect many important aspects of Buddhism. Next, we shall proceed towards Leh again through the beautiful Khardungla Pass. In the evening, you may explore the small town of Leh on foot and involve yourself in shopping activities. Overnight stay at Leh.
Day 5: Departure from Leh.
At your preferred time, our representative will pick you up from your hotel and drop you at the Leh airport or any other location of your preference for your outward journey from Leh. Over here, your Ladakh trip shall end and we are quite sure that you will go back home with many memorable experiences of this trip.
